Ghat Sthapna, also known as Kalash Sthapana, is a sacred ritual that marks the commencement of major Vedic ceremonies and festivals like Navratri, Durga Pooja, or Satyanarayan Katha. It involves the installation of a Kalash (sacred water pot) which represents the divine presence of deities.
The Kalash is filled with water, topped with mango leaves and a coconut, and decorated with sacred threads and symbols. Mantras and invocations are chanted to invite divine energies to reside in the Kalash throughout the duration of the ritual or festival.
This ritual acts as a spiritual foundation for invoking blessings, prosperity, and success in any pooja, yagna, or auspicious occasion.
