Diwali Pooja, also known as Lakshmi-Ganesh Pooja, is the central ritual of the Diwali festival, performed during the evening hours on the new moon day (Amavasya) of Kartik month. This sacred ceremony is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi—the goddess of wealth—and Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles.

It is believed that on this auspicious night, Lakshmi visits homes that are clean, well-lit, and spiritually prepared. The pooja is performed to attract her blessings for wealth, success, harmony, and abundance in the coming year.

The rituals include traditional offerings, lighting diyas (lamps), chanting mantras, and invoking blessings for business, family, and spiritual growth. It is one of the most spiritually and materially significant pujas of the Hindu calendar.
